Welcome to Protect-A-Plate. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the services provided by Protect-A-Plate (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), accessible via our website at www.protect-a-plate.co.uk. By registering for or using our services, you (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”) agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Introduction & Acceptance

1.1. These Terms apply to your access to and use of our services and any related websites, apps, portals, or communications that reference these Terms.

1.2. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1.3. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the services.

2. Services Provided (Registration, Monitoring, Alerts)

Protect-A-Plate provides automotive security services designed to assist in the prevention and detection of vehicle number plate cloning. Our primary services include:

  • Secure Registration: Storage of your unique vehicle and plate credentials within our encrypted global tracking database.
  • Smart Detection: Proprietary technology that monitors for unauthorized duplication or cloning attempts in real-time.
  • Instant Alert System: Immediate notifications delivered via email, SMS, or push notification upon the detection of a potential cloning attempt.

3. Customer Obligations (Accuracy of Data)

3.1. To use our services, you must be the legal owner or authorized operator of the vehicle being registered.

3.2. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process (including vehicle details, registration/plate details, and contact details).

3.3. It is your responsibility to promptly update your information if your vehicle details, ownership/authorisation, or contact information changes.

3.4. Protect-A-Plate reserves the right to refuse service or terminate accounts that provide false, misleading, or incomplete information.

4. Data Protection (GDPR Compliance)

4.1. Your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the UK GDPR.

4.2. By using the services, you grant Protect-A-Plate the right to store and process your vehicle credentials and associated personal data for the purpose of providing secure registration, monitoring, and alerting.

4.3. In the event of detected criminal activity (including suspected plate cloning), we may, at your request or as required by law, provide relevant data to law enforcement agencies or other competent authorities.

5. Fees and Subscription

5.1. Services are provided on a subscription basis as detailed on our website at the time of purchase.

5.2. All fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated or required by UK consumer law.

5.3. Failure to maintain an active subscription will result in the suspension of monitoring and alert services.

6. Limitation of Liability

6.1. While Protect-A-Plate utilizes advanced proprietary technology to detect unauthorized cloning, we do not guarantee that all instances of cloning will be identified or prevented. Our service is a monitoring and alert tool, not a physical security barrier.

6.2. Protect-A-Plate shall not be held liable for any legal fees, fines, or financial losses incurred by the Customer resulting from the actions of third parties (e.g., traffic penalties issued to a cloned vehicle).

6.3. We are not responsible for any delays in alerts caused by telecommunication failures, network outages, or incorrect contact information provided by the Customer.

6.4. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Protect-A-Plate's total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the Customer for the service during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

7. Additional Customer Obligations

7.1. You agree not to use the service for any unlawful or fraudulent purposes.

7.2. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

7.3. You must notify Protect-A-Plate immediately if you sell the registered vehicle so that monitoring may be terminated or transferred.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, technology, and branding associated with Protect-A-Plate, including our proprietary detection algorithms, are the exclusive property of Protect-A-Plate and are protected by intellectual property laws.

9. Termination and Cancellation

9.1. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings (or any other method made available to you in your account portal).

9.2. Cancellation will take effect in line with the subscription terms presented at purchase (for example, at the end of the then-current billing period), unless otherwise required by UK consumer law.

9.3. Protect-A-Plate reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access to the services without notice if you breach these Terms, or if we reasonably suspect misuse, fraud, or unlawful activity.

9.4. Upon termination or cancellation, your access to monitoring and alerts will end and you must cease using the services. Any sections which by their nature should survive termination shall continue to apply (including Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law).

10. Amendments

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Customers will be notified of significant changes via the email address associated with their account. Continued use of the service following such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law (England and Wales)

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
